Sedge Ridge Snow Run

November 19th, 2005

We met up at Ceg Ranch and left for the Ahtanum around 10:00 AM. On this run we took 3 rigs. Test Dummy’s Test Rig, Sir Pissalot’s Rubicon and my Molly Mule. We headed up the South Fork Ahtanum Rd to Red Saddle. At Red Saddle we turn up the Sedge Ridge Crest Trail toward Cultus Hole. The snow was very sloppy and traction was hard to find. We went until we found a spot without snow. We stopped there to cool the engines down from high RPMs we were hitting to get up the hill though the snow. Test Dummy met some guys in CJs on the way up and he invited them a long.

After the rigs cooled down we head up for the first steep part of the trail. We really didn’t plan to make it up, but we wanted the test out Sir Pissalot’s lockers just for fun. Sir Pissalots couldn’t make the climb. His lockers weren’t working. He just had the shop work on his Rubicon and they messed something up.

After we were done playing on the hill climb we headed back to Red Saddle.

At Red Saddle the CJs went their own way. We headed back down to the South Fork and ran it to the end back onto the Sedge Ridge Crest Trail. There was a lot more snow up there. Once back on the trail we stopped for a break.

After a short break we headed on up the crest trail until it started getting a steeper climb. With the grade and the amount of snow, it took awhile to climb. Sir Pissalot worked his way up to the next flat spot. That took a long time to push though.

We stayed back and watched the Rubicon Climb.

I pulled to the side and let Test Dummy go for it.

Test Dummy made it about half way up then back on down. Sir Pissalot came back down and talked me into giving it a try. So I did.

Back up a little and go for it again! I made it close to where the Rubicon stop. I got out for a picture and then back down.

After the fun on that climb we turn around and ran the Sedge Ridge Crest Trail down pass the locker check point and then passed Red Saddle. I stop to get some pics on the trail.

We drove on down to the end of the Sedge Ridge Crest trail to look at a sea of fog over the Yakima Valleys. We were glad we spent the day on Sedge Ridge in the sunshine.

We ran the crest trail back to A2420 and went down. It was icy most of the way down. Now it is back down in the fog. We stopped here on A2420 for another picture.

We headed down A2420 to A2400 and out though the Ahtanum Sno-park.

We made it this day without getting stuck or breaking anything. It was a nice run and we had a blast. You should have been there too!
